- Support for import of text associated with an imported input quantity
- Support for user defined functions to facilitate handling of complex mathematical model equations
- New built-in functions for conversion between degrees and radians
- New built-in function for absolute value
- New observation method 'SUS' added to bring the total number of methods supported to five.
- Improved handling of mathematical and numerical conflicts in the calculations
- Export to HTML format using the clipboard or exporting to a file
- A new option to see the previous budget table prior to recalculation
- Improved navigation and new buttons for elegantly moving from one section of the software to the other
- The all important equation field may now be resized
- Shortcuts for opening recently edited .SMU files
- Addition of a summary report to complement the full report
- Ability to print to US letter paper format
- Ability to print in landscape mode
- The addition of an Italian interface. GUM Workbench now runs in English, German, Italian and Danish language.
It is the policy of Metrodata GmbH to update all previous users to release 1.2 free of charge. (A minimal handling fee may be charged, depending on the service requested).
Update issues:
The file names and structure of the files making up a GUM Workbench installation have been changed in release 1.2. Registered users having an older installation with other filenames and structure or with fewer languages than mentioned above, may contact the Danish Technological Institute for assistance with an update.
Even users of the free demonstration version of the software may achieve added benefits by upgrading to release 1.2. The files required may be downloaded from the present web-site
(In versions earlier than 1.1k, released May 1998, the application file was named UNCEVAL.EXE.). In version 1.0 and 1.1 there were resource files with similar names but different structure as compared to those distributed with version 1.2. When updating, all older GUM Workbench installation files should be deleted. No files from the previous releases should be mixed with the current release.
Opening .SMU files created with version 1.2 with any of the older releases is not recommended and will not work in all circumstances.
In GUM Workbench releases earlier than 1.2, use of the backslash was permitted in text fields and the underscore was permitted in quantity names as well as text fields. This means that in some instances files created with earlier versions will not display exactly as they did when opened with version 1.2. It should be only a matter of minor editing to change the old files to take advantage of the new formatting features.
The method of storing the paths to files where imported quantities reside has been improved in version 1.2. This brings an issue of using old files where the import paths are given in old format. In most cases it is advisable to revisit the imported quantities to ensure that the import functionality has been maint
