Eurachem is a network of organisations in Europe, having the objective of establishing a system for the international traceability of chemical measurements and the promotion of good quality practices. It focuses on analytical chemistry. Notably of interest from an uncertainty point of view is the Eurachem/Citac Guide to Quantifying Uncertainty in Analytical Measurement. A draft (119 pages) is available in .pdf format. (As of September '99).

NIST is National Institute for Standards and Technology in the United States.

An internet information resource has been set up to further the understanding and correct use of uncertainty principles. We particularly recommend reading the pages "International and U.S. perspectives on measurement uncertainty".

Policies and procedures at NIST in relation to uncertainty in measurement are described in this 24 page document.

You may read it directly form your bowser or download a .PDF file to be read with Acrobat Reader. We wish you a pleseant time with NIST Technical Note 1297.

HN Metrology Consulting, Inc., based in Indianapolis, USA is a consulting firm founded by Danish metrologist expert Henrik Nielsen. On their web page, we find among other items two readable papers by Dr. Nielsen. The papers, which both contain information on the application of uncertainty budgets, were first presented to NCSL meetings in 1997 and 1998.

Integrated Sciences Group i Bakersfield, California publishes a software for uncertainty analysis. The program is called Uncertainty Analyzer. This initiative is in support of the ideas behind the GUM method. Danish Technological Institute was among the first users of this product.

The link leads to extensive marketing material on Uncertainty Analyzer. Also you will find a list of references to current US literature on the GUM–method. (These publications, however are not available for reading directly on the internet).

Per Bennich announces in this page that information and opinions on measurement uncertainty shall be made available. As of September 1999 we find information on Per Bennich's training course. There is also a nice paper on uncertainty. However, as of September 1999 it is available in Danish only. The ideas behind PUMA -methodology were developed by Per Bennich.
