Demo Version policy for

GUM Workbench Demo

A demonstration version of the present software shall be distributed free of charge to all interested persons.

Limitations:
• The Demo version will not execute a 'Save' or 'Save as...' command.
• The Demo version will not print an uncertainty analysis which has been changed.
• The Demo version will not export an uncertainty analysis which has been changed.

Options:
Except as described, the Demo version performs exactly as GUM Workbench proper. It has all the same facilities and functionality. The Demo version will print and export an uncertainty analysis if only the file read from disk remains unchanged. This may prove useful in connection with .SMU files downloaded from e.g. www.gum.dk. Likewise it may be of use in connection with examples made available with the Demo version. In fact, it is useful for any .SMU file which has been saved using a full version of GUM Workbench.

Purpose:
The Demo version has two purposes.
Firstly, it allows our professional GUM Workbench clients to try out all facilities of the software before they buy.

Secondly, it makes software functionality available, which – at no cost – will assist persons with only an occasional demand on analyses according to the GUM method. The result of these analyses must, however, be recorded by manually transferring data from the screen when using the Demo Version.

GUM Workbench Demo is a generous gift from Metrodata GmbH for everyone with an interest in measurement uncertainty. It was not intended to become the permanent solution for those running laboratory or quality assurance activities with a business purpose. Also it is not intended to become the basis for training in management of uncertainty budgets at colleges or universities. For this purpose, educational institution licenses are available.

Demo Manual:
Anyone who declares himselves to be involved in laboratory or quality assurance activitites for business purposes or declares that he teaches classes or seminars on uncertainty analysis, may for a nominal handling fee, have a demonstration manual for GUM Workbench sent to him on request.
The Demo manual will be delivered as a hard copy book or in the form of .PDF files at our discretion.
A demo manual contains the same information as in the original manual for GUM Workbench.
It serves as a further aid for evaluation of the software by our clients before they place their order.
Demo manuals are marked as such and may be recalled when the client purchases a full GUM Workbench license.

Request:
GUM Workbench is targeted towards the professional user. We expect that our offerings as described above will be exploited only with a professional attitude and we request that users of Demo version software and Demo manuals pay due respect to the philosophy behind this offer.
